How it all started...
In 1919, Charles Spellman held a tent meeting which resulted in the formation of a small group of believers that began holding worship services in various homes. Since that humble beginning, Neighborhood Church has outgrown 5 facilities and the official name of "Neighborhood Church of the Assemblies of God" was adopted in 1954.
In March of 2003, the present location on E. Allen Rd. was occupied. Over the years, we've seen generations of families coming to Christ and reaching the surrounding communities. As we look back on our history we realize our strength is not in where we meet, but in Who we meet.

Expanding the vision...
Neighborhood Church seeks to reach Sunnyside and its surrounding communities. We believe the best way to achieve this goal is to partner with families as well as existing Community Based Programs. As scripture encourages, "Two are better than one for they can help each other succeed" Ecclesiastes 4:9. You may find us ministering at a local nursing home, blessing area foster children with Christmas gifts, or volunteering throughout the valley. Each year we have our eyes and ears open for new opportunities. If you are a community based program that could use our help, please contact us.
Where we are headed...
Our mission is to connect people with a growing relationship with Jesus. Emphasis on growing. We know this takes a purposeful strategy. As we look ahead, we seek to provide avenues for healthy growth, to be an "inwardly healthy, outwardly focused" church.
We must LIVE in community with Jesus and each other. Church is a lifestyle not an event.
We will GROW as Christ followers. Our environments are centered on Christ's teachings, and encourage the development of community.

We will BECOME compassion in action to our community. Jesus lived a life driven by compassion towards people, we seek to do the same.
